A New Step Forward in the Digitalization and Security of the Port of Rijeka
Contract Signed to Strengthen the Cybersecurity of the Port of Rijeka Authority

The Port of Rijeka Authority has signed a contract with the company CompING d.o.o., worth 112,428.75 euros (89,943.00 euros excluding VAT), for the procurement of equipment and software, as well as their installation and integration into the information system of the Port of Rijeka Authority. The contract was signed by the Executive Director of the Port of Rijeka Authority, Mr. Denis Vukorepa, and Mr. Davorin Greblički, a member of the management board of CompING d.o.o.

The contract is the result of a previously conducted public procurement procedure, carried out within the framework of the pilot project “Procurement/Installation of Equipment and Software – CRESPORT Project.” The CRESPORT project (Improving the Cyber Resilience and Security of Adriatic Ports) is being implemented with co-financing from the Interreg Italy–Croatia 2021–2027 programme. The aim of the project is to increase the cyber resilience and security of Adriatic ports, which represent key points in maritime traffic for Italy, Croatia, and the broader European region.

The total budget allocated by the Port of Rijeka Authority for the implementation of project activities amounts to 22,485.75 euros (including VAT), with 80% of the funds provided by the Interreg programme, and the remaining 20% covered by the Port of Rijeka Authority from its own special-purpose revenues.

The digitalisation of port systems brings numerous advantages but also increases the risk of cyber threats. An attack on a port’s IT infrastructure could have serious consequences for supply chains and national economies. The CRESPORT project is specifically aimed at mitigating such risks through cooperation, knowledge exchange, and the enhancement of security systems.

As part of the pilot project, Port of Rijeka Authority plans to develop a detailed assessment of cyber threats, which will serve as the basis for modernising the protection of its network infrastructure. Special focus will be placed on renovating and improving firewall infrastructure and raising standards for user supervision.

The CRESPORT project is led by the Port of Ravenna Authority. Project partners from Croatia include the Port of Dubrovnik, the Port of Rijeka, and the Port of Ploče; from Italy, partners include Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico centro settentrionale; Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Centrale; Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Orientale; Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Settentrionale – Porti di Venezia e Chioggia.
Through this project, the Adriatic ports once again confirm the importance of working together to meet the challenges of the digital age and ensure a safer, more resilient transport system.
