3rd European Forum “Cities of the Future” held at the Campus of the University of Rijeka

On March 24, 2025, on the Campus of the University of Rijeka, the 3rd European Forum with the topic “Cities of the Future” was held. The conference was opened by the Rector of the University of Rijeka, Prof. Snježana Prijić Samaržija, Mr. Peter Lürssen, Executive Director of the Lürssen Group, Mayor of Rijeka, Mr. Marko Filipović and Director of the Regional Development Agency of PGC, Mr. Vedran Kružić. Plenary speakers, including Mr. Jonathan Wolff, a professor at Oxford University, and futurologist, Mr. Carsten Beck, discussed the importance of equality and urban development. The forum ended with a discussion on the challenges of urban life and social justice, in which the mayors of Rijeka and Split, Mr. Marko Filipović and Mr. Ivan Puljak actively participated. In addition to the stimulating discussions, the forum was an opportunity to award scholarships of the Lürssen Foundation to scholars who will work on managed projects in three countries. One of the most interesting parts of the forum was the round table with mayors and the exchange of visions of urban development. It was inspiring to hear all the speakers, and this was a great space for motivation and expansion of ideas for the development of future projects in the port area of the city of Rijeka.
