POR2CORE – BCTB: Signing Ceremony for the Construction contract
On February 14, 2020, at 10:00 am, in the Meeting Room of the Port of Rijeka Authority, a Signing Ceremony was held for Construction Contract within the project “Improvement of the infrastructure of the Port of Rijeka – Bulk Cargo Terminal Bakar” (POR2CORE – BCTB).
The contract worth HRK 48,494,157.43 (VAT included) was signed by the Deputy President of the Management Board, Mr. Duško Grabovac, and the Management Board Member, Mr. Tomislav Kalafatić, on behalf of Luka Rijeka j.s.c., and the President of the Management Board of GP Krk j.s.c., Mr. Josip Purić and the Procurator, and authorized representative of Colas Rail Croatia and Colas Rail SAS by Mr. Bojan Vuin on behalf of contractors.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butkovic and representatives of regional and local authorities, Zlatko Komadina, the Mayor of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Tomislav Klarić, the Mayor of Bakar, and Marko Filipović, Deputy Mayor of Rijeka.
Before the signing of this contract, Minister Oleg Butkovic pointed out that in the past four years a number of projects were initiated and implemented, “from the completion of the Zagreb coast within the Rijeka Gateway project, to a number of CEF projects but also to the construction of DC403 road, which totals more than € 390 million. In addition, a major cycle of investment in railway infrastructure has been launched, which is also extremely important for the port of Rijeka, and this will ultimately create the preconditions for increasing traffic and development of this part of Croatia. “
Director Denis Vukorepa pointed out that the Port of Rijeka Authority has a total of seven projects co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). Their total value is EUR 133 million.
Four CEF projects are already in implementation: one at the Adriatic Gate Container Terminal, another at the new Zagreb Deep Sea container terminal, a third at the Raša Basin, and the fourth to introduce a new unique IT system for the entire port community. This contract today means that the fifth CEF project is activating its working phase and in the next two months it is expected to complete the public procurement procedures for contractors for the remaining two CEF projects of the Port of Rijeka Authority.
During the ceremony, Zlatko Komadina, the Mayor of Primorje – Gorski Kotar County, Tomislav Klarić, the Mayor of the City of Bakar and the Marko Filipović, Deputy Mayor of the City of Rijeka, assessed the project as important for the development of bulk cargo terminals in the Bakar Basin, not only for Rijeka port, but also for good transport connections in general. On behalf of the Port of Rijeka j.s.c. Mr. Duško Grabovac emphasized the importance of the project for Port of Rijeka j.s.c. as a beneficiary of the funds.
The project “Upgrade of Rijeka Port infrastructure – Bulk Cargo Terminal Bakar” (POR2CORE-BCTB) is a joint project of the Port of Rijeka Authority and the Port of Rijeka j.s.c. The total value of the project is 6,094,664 EUR, and is mostly co-financed by the Connecting European Facility (CEF), with a maximum support of 85%.
The Port of Rijeka Authority implements a total of seven approved projects for which co-financing from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). All seven projects arein progress, with a total estimated value of EUR 132,865,303.00.
