Austrian Advantage Zagreb and Port of Rijeka Authority held business meeting for Croatian and Austrian companies

On September 20, 2023, the Austrian Foreign Trade Office from Zagreb and the Port of Rijeka Authority organized an economic mission and a business visit of Austrian companies to the port of Rijeka. The Austrian delegation was led by Julia Maria Tiefengraber, Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the Republic of Austria in the Republic of Croatia and Gerhard Schlattl, Director of the Austrian Office for Foreign Trade from Zagreb. The economic mission was welcomed by the director of the Port of Rijeka Authority, Denis Vukorepa, and his associates.

The business meeting was attended by the representatives of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Mayor of the City of Rijeka Marko Filipović, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, the regional development agency “Prigoda” and representatives of leading maritime agencies and logisticians.

Port of Rijeka Authority and its concessionaires Adriatic Gate Container Terminal, Luka Rijeka j.s.c. and Rijeka Gateway Ltd. presented all the possibilities of economic cooperation, the new capacities of the port of Rijeka and infrastructure projects with an emphasis on the development of Rijeka into a new, leading logistics and transport center in the northern Adriatic. During the business meeting, numerous Austrian companies presented their activities: Rail & Sea Logistic GmbH, Rail Cargo Logistic GmbH, OMV Downstream GmbH, METRANS(Danubia) Krems Gmbh, Lagermax Logistics Austria GmbH, JG Transport, Go Asset Development, Cargo – partner Gmbh, Cargo – Center Graz Geitriebsgesellschaft and BKS Bank AG.

Following the business meeting and presentations by the Austrian and Croatian participants, a tour of the port of Rijeka was organised that included visits to the Adriatic Gate Container Terminal, the inland terminal Škrljevo, the construction site of the new state road DC 403, and the future Rijeka Gateway container terminal on the Zagreb pier.
