Construction of a Connector Road Between the Port Area and the State Road d 403 – Presentation of Project
Today, the Port of Rijeka Authority presented its project for the construction of a connector road between the port area and the state road D 403.Oleg Butković, Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Vojko Obersnel, Mayor of Rijeka and Denis Vukorepa, Executive Director of the Port of Rijeka Authority, participated in the presentation.
With the support of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, the project for the construction of the connecting road of the port area with the state road D 403 is being implemented by the Port of Rijeka Authority. For the selection of the contractor for the construction of the connector road, a public procurement procedure was completed with an estimated value of HRK 36.225 million including VAT. Three valid bids were received, and after their reviewing and evaluating, the bid of GP KRK d.d. was selected as the most economically advantageous with the total value of HRK 32.225 million including VAT. The deadline for the execution of work is 300 days from the date of signing the Contract with the selected contractor.
The connector road of the port area with the state road D 403 provides traffic connection of the port terminal for general cargo in the Rijeka Basin with the state road D 403 which is also the main road entrance to the new Zagreb Deep Sea container terminal.The internal connector road of the port area is its physical extension to the east through the port area in the Rijeka Basin, and its construction eliminates the need for current entry / exit of heavy cargo trucks on Žabica Square (existing entrance / exit Žabica) and the busiest city street Riva situated in the city center.
After the presentation of the project, high officials with its delegation visited the location of the future connector road of the port area, and other ongoing construction works at that area, namely CEF project “Upgrade of the Rijeka Port infrastructure – Rijeka Basin” (POR2CORE-RijekaBasin) and construction works in progress on the demolition of warehouses 5, 6 and 7 in the Rijeka Basin.
