On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the Port of Rijeka Authority signed a contract for the construction of a new entry-exit point in the Rijeka Basin (west) with the company Kolektor Koling d.o.o. from Slovenia. The value of the Contract is EUR 831,328.01 including VAT (EUR 665,062.41 + VAT EUR 166,265.60), and the deadline for the execution of works is 147 days from the date of signing the Contract.
A new entry-exit point will be built in the western part of the Rijeka Basin at the end of the internal port connecting road that connects the western part of the port area and the future Rijeka Gateway container terminal with the state road DC 403.
The works include the construction of two entry and two exit lanes, pedestrian corridors and all the necessary installations and equipment, i.e. water, sewage, electrical installations and optics.
The installation of outdoor lighting as well as the necessary security and protective equipment (video surveillance, ramps, readers, customs fence) is planned on the plateau.
Access to the new entry-exit point will take place via the state road DC 403 and continue to the internal port connection road and will be integrated with the existing infrastructure.
Otherwise, on February 2, 2024, a temporary entry-exit point for freight vehicles to the Rijeka Basin was opened and the former entry-exit point on Žabica Square, after being closed, became a service entry-exit point exclusively for official and emergency vehicles.
