Progress at the GCT – Raša Basin
The first phase of the project is coming to an end. In the Raša basin at the general cargo terminal, works are underway to reconstruct the
pier as a part of the project “Upgrade of the Rijeka port infrastructure – general cargo terminal.” The project is being implemented in two phases, and reconstruction works are currently underway on the southern part of the pier in the length of 91 meters (Phase 1).
At the beginning of 2020, the installation began of new transverse and longitudinal reinforced concrete girders on previously prepared pilots’ heads. Installation of all supports is expected by the end of February this year, followed by the construction of the concrete slab, installation of equipment, drainage and installation work. Final completion of Phase 1 work is expected in mid-April 2020. Upon completion of Phase 1, it embarks on Phase 2, which includes the reconstruction of the remaining 75 meters of shoreline.
The project worth EUR 6,914,000.00 was co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) with a grant of 45.30% in the amount of EUR 3,132,042.00. On May 23, 2019, the Port of Rijeka Authority signed a contract for the execution of works worth HRK 46,850,197.16 with the community of Bidders MAP-TRADE d.o.o. and Communal Construction d.o.o. Work began on July 17, 2019 and is ongoing according to contractual dynamics.
The project “Upgrade of the Rijeka port infrastructure – general cargo terminal” ( POR2CORE – GCT) will reconstruct the port infrastructure in the Rasa Port Basin. it is one of seven development projects of the Port of Rijeka Authority co-financed by EU funds from the Instrument
for connecting Europe with a total value of EUR 133 million.
