PROMARES: Kick-off meeting in Trieste
Representatives of the Port of Rijeka Authority participated in the initial meeting of the PROMARES project, which took place on January 15-16, 2019 in Trieste.
The PROMARES (Promoting Maritime and Multimodal Transport) project will face challenges that impede the development of maritime and multimodal freight in the program area. This is mainly caused by the unbalanced development of multimodal transport systems, poor coordination and communication between stakeholders and policy makers and inconsistent cross-border measures and tools, which in turn leads to increased road traffic with negative consequences in terms of pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and noise. Accordingly, PROMARES aims to enhance maritime and multimodal freight traffic, which brings together all ports responsible for intermodal and multimodal transport flows, as well as the most relevant intermodal logistics hub in the programming area, facing the same challenges regarding multimodal transport accessibility and efficiency. networks of TEN-T corridors in the region (from port to inland) and increase mutual cooperation and coordination.
The project brings together 12 partners from Italy and Croatia, including Port of Rijeka Authority. The partners in the project are the Croatian port authorities of Rijeka and Ploče and the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea (Trieste) as leading partner, the Port of Ravenna Authority, the Central Adriatic Ports Authority (Ancona), the Southern Adriatic Sea Port Authority (Bari) and Venice International University, Rete Autostrade Mediteranee and Institute for Transport And Logistics Foundation -intl from Bologna.
The project duration is thirty months since January 1, 2019 to June 30, 2021 with a total project budget of € 2,778,200. The project is co-financed by the Interreg V-A Italy Croatia 2014 – 2020 program.
