The Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and the Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure visited the construction site of the state road D 403. Government officials were welcomed and introduced to the project progress by the Executive Director of the Port of Rijeka Authority, Denis Vukorepa and President of The Board of Hrvatske ceste Ltd., Josip Škorić.
State road D 403 is a strategic road that will connect the Zagreb Deep Sea container terminal with the Škurinje junction on the Rijeka bypass and function as a new approach to the city center from the west. The length of the road D 403 from the port of Rijeka to the Škurinje junction on the Rijeka bypass is approximately 3 km. The construction of the D 403 road ensures efficient transport connections between sea transport and road transport thus developing a multimodal platform that allows more progress and further realization of new economic factors in the Port of Rijeka.
The contract for the construction of this road was signed on June 18, 2020 in the amount of HRK 456.36 million. The works started in the fall of 2020, and are being performed by joint venture, Kolektor CPG, from Slovenia, GP Krk from Croatia and Euro-asfalt from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to the project dynamics, the works should be completed in 2023. The project is 85% co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund and is also a part of the capital project of the Republic of Croatia – Rijeka Gateway Project.
