Visit of the U.S. Embassy in Croatia

H.E. Mark Felming, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States of America to the Republic of Croatia, visited the Port of Rijeka Authority today. On that occasion, a reception meeting was held in the Meeting Hall of the Port of Rijeka Authority, hosted by Mr. Ivan Jakšić, Head of the Sector for Commercial and Operational Affairs, Rajko Jurman, Head of the Department for Commercial Affairs and Vojko Kocijan, Head of the Department for Development and International Projects.

Chargé d’Affaires Mark Fleming and his associates got acquainted with the latest developments in the Port of Rijeka, which were especially marked by the recent signing of a concession agreement with Rijeka Gateway (APM Terminals and Enna Logic. Ltd.) for the development and economic use of the Zagreb Deep Sea container terminal in Rijeka. There was a presentation of current infrastructure projects co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility program in the total value of 132 million euros with the aim of improving port and railway infrastructure and better transport connections of port terminals with the hinterland. The interest was also expressed in passenger traffic and future plans related to the development of the passenger port, as well as all other infrastructural development plans that will ensure port of Rijeka to grow more significant and competetive in relation to other northern Adriatic ports. As part of the visit, they visited the port basins Rijeka and Sušak by boat.
